On Her Way To The Great Library

Post by Kanana on Sun Jul 22, 2012 4:51 pm

Lady Kanana walked through the streets of Valentine Town. It was beautiful here, though it lacked the appeal the mountains had. Here was where her citizens saw her as, not only a fearful leader, but a kind member of their society. She nodded to a few people here and there, a smile playing on her lips, although it didn't quite reach her eyes. Not like when she was with Jareth; but, nevermind that.

She continued walking, and a small boy on the side of the street caught her attention. He was filthy, and far too thin, holding a tin cup and holding it out to passerby. She headed towards him, a hand already reaching into her money pouch. "Excuse me...do you have any coins to spare?" he asked as she neared him. She only smiled and dropped one hundred galados into his tin cup.

He stared at her, mouth agape, but she simply patted his head and kept walking. She was headed for the library; she needed some information, and that was the place to go. She nodded to people as she walked, her wings carefully tucked behind her so as to not accidentally whack people as they passed.

Tokiwa walked down one of the alleyways of Valentine town. She was looking for something to eat mostly, she for the most part. She wore little more then a dress like rag now, due to other clothes became tore to the point of being unable to wear them. her body for the most part was covered in dirt, she tried to keep herself washed when it rained, but it didn't keep her fully washed like how she would of liked. As she was about to leave the alleyway she stopped as she peaked around the corner, she saw the coolest person ever, Lady Kanana. She hide behind a box as she passed by the alleyway she was in. Tokiwa slowly moved out from behind the box and began following kanana, staying a slight distance back, trying not to get to close. but as she continued to follow her, her rag of a dress tore, causing tokiwa to fall and slam her head into the ground. Tokiwa would sit up, and start to cry from hitting the ground so hard.

Kanana whirled, having heard a loud smacking sound and then a child crying. The girl was small, nine or ten, with jet black hair and pretty purple eyes. She knelt in the street, passerby stopping to see what she would do. Normally, Kanana would look for the child's mother and then walk away, but this child didn't look like she had a family. Judging by her appearance...she was completely alone.

"Hey...shhhhh, it's okay," she said soothingly, inspecting the child. She had a large red mark on her forehead that was slowly swelling, going from red and beginning to head to purple. "It's alright...are you hungry?" she asked the girl. She looked fairly thin; plus, Kana hadn't eaten lunch yet. She began to help the girl up, smiling kindly.

tokiwa continued to cry in till she heard a voice, however she knew this voice. she looked up stiff sniffling, her eyes would light up. it was Lady Kanana and was she was talking to her. Just would just stare for a new minutes in till she remembered she had askd her a question, "Ye..Yes....Lady Kanana.....I am.." She would say still sniffling, she couldn't believe Lady Kanana was talking to her, a smile spread across her face, and for her it was like all the pain went away with kanana there.

The child stared at her, clear adoration in her eyes, before seeming to come to her sense and answer, "Ye..Yes....Lady Kanana.....I am.." she sniffled. The girl then smiled up at her, and Kanana felt like she recognized the kid, but couldn't place her finger on who she was exactly. "What is your name, child?" she asked, taking the girl's hand and beginning to walk with her.

The crowd that had been surrounding the two immediately parted and went back to their daily business, albeit they continued to shoot confused glances in Kanana's direction. Kanana was well aware of the looks she received, but chose to ignore them, instead directing her attention to the frail child, making sure that the girl was steady on her feet. Huh...guess she was more motherly than she thought...

"My...Name... is Tokiwa Lady Kanana." she would say in a more cheerful, however she would rub her head every one in a while. She continued to look at Kanana, rather then watching where she was going, it was lucky she didn't trip on anything else. She was so happy, it was like she was dreaming. She hoped it wasn't but even if it was, she didn't want to wake up. Tokiwa's stomach grumbled, her body now knowing it was soon going to get food.

"Hope you like turkey and potatoes, Tokiwa," Kanana said with a smile, before leading the little girl to her favorite lunchtime spot--that didn't sell acohol, of course. She let the girl go in first, then followed after, and immediately they were seated by an eager waitress. The girl was seated in a chair that was a little higher than Kanana's, so as to be at the same eye-level, and Kana smiled at her.

The waitress came back with Kanana's usual, some mashed potatoes mixed with carrots and celery. Kana then whispered something int he waitress's ear, and the woman immediately came back with a huge chunk of turkey, those same mashed potatoes piled high, and a large slice of apple pie all on one place. She set this in front of the girl, and then walked away. Kana smiled at Tokiwa, motioning for her to dig in before she took a small bite of her potatoes, closing her eyes to savor the delicious taste.

Tokiwa would enter kinda slowly fearful do to normally being rushed away from places like that. but that didn't happen this time, rather she was seated like a normal person. Tokiwa slowly went and sat down at where the waitress took them, she looked around, having not being many buildings in a while. When The waitress came back with kanana's food, tokiwa would just stare, she had never seen something so good. then when the waitress put food in front of her, she stared even more, looking at Kanana seeing that is was ok to eat, she dug in, She would eat somewhat wildly for a little bit, it was mostly cause she was starving, however as she saw Kanana eat, she somewhat mimicked kanana and slowed down her eating.

Kanana smiled, swallowing her food and dabbing at her mouth with a napkin. "I think we shall go to buy you new clothes next, yes?" she asked with a smile, done with her food. She watched as the young girl scarfed it down, then slowed. Good. This girl wasn't completely without manners.

Tokiwa continued eating, it was so good to eat food, that was freshly cooked and cold scarps from the trash. she looked at kanana, when she talked about buying he clothes. She looked down at herself, it would be nice to get something new to wear. but then she looked over at kanana, "you mean it?" she would say getting excited. However somewhere in her mind she was thinking, why was Lady kanana doing this for her, a small homeless girl, who was no were as important as herself, and for the most part didn't matter, but she didnt want to think that, this day was bringing her happiness. after a while she would have finished her food, ending up full in the first time in forever.

Kana laughed as she could see excitement light the girl's face. She dropped a few galados on the table, stood, helped Tokiwa down, and they walked out together. "Of course I mean it! You're going to come live in Noro Palace with me," she said with a light laugh as they headed to the shop of the most expensive tailor in all the regions. Once there, she had Tokiwa sit in a spindle-legged chair as she went into the back to talk to the tailor.

A few moments later, a young man with an impressively oiled mustache came into the room, followed by what looked to be a kind young woman. This was his wife, although you wouldn't know it upon first sight. "Well, well...yes, she needs a lot of work." the man said, wrinkling his nose. The woman looked at Tokiwa kindly, and took her hand. "Do you mind if we wash you up, in the back room? So that you can look neat for your new clothes?" she asked with a smile. Her husband only sauntered off, to finish some beading on another dress, as Kanana motioned for Tokiwa to go bathe with a grin.

Tokiwa, brain somewhat stopped, She was going to live in Noro Palace, with kanana? this caused her brain to be so excited, but she had no words for it. however due to the excitement she had to idea she had moved, and once she snapped out of it, she found herself in a clothing store she looked around at all the pretty clothes, something even when she did have a home, weren't as good as these. Do to her being out of it she couldn't really hear them talking, but when the woman took her hand, she nearly jumped. she listened but was unsure of what to do, she looked over to kanana who said it was ok, so she went with the woman to get clean.

A few moments later, Tokiwa came out of the back, swathed in a large fluffy robe. She was seated in the same chair as before, while Kanana talked measurements and prices with the tailor. The tailor's wife stood next to Tokiwa's chair, waiting simply, her hands folded in front of her. When finished, Kanana and the tailor had settled upon seventy dresses, some made of taffeta, others of silk, and yet still more made of velvet. There were multiple colors, ranging from white and cream, to burgundy and brown. There were no dresses made of black.

The tailor's wife had Tokiwa stand, and they took her measurements very carefully. They then gave her a simple white dress of cotton and shoes of simple cloth, so that Kanana could go buy shoes and other necessities for the child as they stitched and sowed perfect clothing for the girl. Kanana then led Tokiwa out of the shop, and they went to various stores. First, Kanana bought her thirty pairs of shoes to be delivered to the Palace that night, and then they went to a hairdresser to have her hair trimmed. They left the length of it alone, trimmed her bangs and the split ends, washed and dried it, and then braided it down the girl's back. Her hair was now sleek and shiny, looking quite perfect.

They then went to a shop that sold jewels and accessories, along with underwear and pajamas and socks. Kanana bought the girl multiple jeweled bracelets, earrings, and necklaces, along with many underclothes and nighttime gowns, once again all to be delivered to the Palace. When finished with this, Kanana bought the girl a small sweet for a snack, to keep hunger at bay until they went to the Palace for dinner. Kanana then went to a furniture store, to buy a mattress and bedroom set for the child, to be delivered that very night. When done with this, Kanana smiled down at the little one. "Is there anything you might need, child? If not, we shall head to your new home," she said, holding the girl's delicate hand carefully. The whole town was full of whispers at Kanana's strange behavior, but she paid them no mind. She had only eyes for the little girl.

Tokiwa was was amazed at all the things, Lady Kanana was buying for her. But she didn't care this was the happiest day of her life. she didn't know what to say or do, her emotions where on overload. She was going to live with the one who saved her life, and probability the coolest person she ever met, but she was also nice, something that the people of the town said was not in her style, that she was somewhat uncaring. She didn't care, they were all wrong, every last one of them. She looked up at Kanana, when she asked about if there was anything else. "any...thing else?" she would question , "You've, already done so much for me, I.....I." Tokiwa would say, her mind finally snapping she would start to cry, however these were tears of joy rather then sadness, she would suddenly hug kanana, not knowing what else to do.

Kanana was slightly taken aback by the hug, but her shocked face quickly broke into a smile, and she hugged the girl back, stroking her hair as the girl cried, a smile on her face. Tears of joy? Huh...something Kanana had never seen before. She knelt on her knees, now at eye level with the girl, and she kissed her forehead with a smile. "Everyone in the Palace is going to love you, Princess," she said with a laugh, before scooping the small girl up into her arms and launching herself into the air. She didn't realize that the child could possibly be afraid of heights; Kanana didn't understand fear. She flew, swift and fast, her wings beating strong, and they landed at the gates of Noro Palace. Already, there were caravans with the girl's items at the door. Good. She wanted the servants to set up the child's room at once.

Instead of waiting to get through the gates, she simply flew over them, still carrying the girl. She went through the window of her personal library, landing lightly, and set the child on her feet carefully. "Elena!" she called, her voice powerful with authority as it always was when she addressed the maids. A pretty young woman, sixteen or seventeen, appeared in the doorway, out of breath. "Yes, my lady?" the woman said, bowing immediately before eyeing Tokiwa curiously.

"I'm giving you a promotion. Instead of being a simple maid, you shall take care of the new Princess of Noro Palace. Elena, this is Miss Tokiwa. Miss Tokiwa, this is Elena." Kanana said, introducing the two to each other.

Tokiwa smiled as Kanana hugged her, this was the first time she had felt loved in a while time. When Kanana picked her up, she knew she was going to get carried but, she didn't realized Kanana was going to fly, in till she was already in the air. At first she felt somewhat fearful, but remembered it was Kanana who was holding her, and she knew Kanana wouldn't let anything happen to her. She watched as they flew over buildings, something Tokiwa never thought she would do. they landed at the gates for a moment, all the stuff Kanana had bought for her, it was a lot more then she thought it was. Then Kanana would lift off once more, going into the castle itself, ending up in some sort Library. After Kanana had set her down, She called out for someone. After a short while, a Girl appeared in the doorway, Kanana introduced her As Elena. "Hello Miss Elena, it is nice to meet you." She would say cheerfully making a small girly bow, like she had seen some other girls do when she was on the street.

Kanana smiled. "Elena, you will be in charge of Princess Tokiwa's care, but of course, you will have assistants to help you. If Princess Tokiwa is unhappy with the way you have provided for her, then you will have to deal with me, do you understand?" Kanana said, the tone of her voice making it known that her threats were not empty. "Now, see to it that her bedroom is set up comfortably, two floors above the kitchens, so that she will always be warm. And light the fireplace, tonight will be chilly. I could smell the scent of a storm on my way up here," Kanana commanded, and Elena hurried out of the room after curtsying to the two.

Kanana then turned to Tokiwa. "Would you like a tour of the Palace, dear?" she asked kindly, "Dinner shall be served soon."

Tokiwa would listen to kanana talking to Elena, ordering her to do stuff. Being called a princess was new to her however. All of this was kinda going quite fast, She was almost getting a new life. but then she remembered something. Something she had forgot about, is that every time she felt happy, something bad happened, she had a face of worry, she hoped it didn't happen again. she looked up at kanana when she asked if wanted a tour, "Yes Please!" she would say excitedly. When kanana talked about dinner, she was confused for a moment, then remembered that normal people, ate more then once a day.

Kanana nodded, then went through the various rooms of the great Palace. She showed Kiwa the four towers, the spike at the top of the entire building, and the places that were safe to be so she didn't get struck by lightning. She showed her the kitchens, the bedrooms where the servants were to sleep, and the dungeons. The only place that Kanana didn't show to the young Princess was her Laboratory, which was strictly private. The Laboratory was located below the dungeons, so, when they came to the end of the tour at the last cell inside, Kanana showed her the door to down below and let her know to never go down there.

"Now, are you hungry?" Kanana asked with a smile.

tokiwa was amazed, of how big the place was, she had seen it from the outside, but on the inside it seemed much bigger. There was so many rooms, she felt like the tour would never end. She had a feeling she was going to need help finding her way around, or she was going to end up lost. when kanana showed her the dungeons, she was already somewhat scared of the place, but when she showed the door that went down, for some reason gave her even more creeps. When Kanana asked if she was hungry she noded that she was.

Kanana smiled and lead Kiwa back up the stairs to her bedroom, two floors above the kitchens. It was warm and cozy inside, everything perfectly set up. Good. The servants worked fast. Kanana rang a bell for Elena, who came running at once. She then turned to Tokiwa, "I'm going to go get ready for dinner. Elena will be here to help you get dressed," she said with a smile, before leaving the room. Elena looked at the new Princess nervously.

"Um, hello. Again." she said with a nervous giggle, then went and opened Tokiwa's grand closet. "So...um...what do you feel like wearing?" she asked with a shaky smile.

What if we loved every moment that we could've saved? And the perfect song ends up being the last song you ever hear? Our song is playin' till the end. Even if it's the last song.

tokiwa watched as Kanana leave and elena enter. " Hello, Miss Elena." She would respond when she said hello. she would walk over and look inside of the closet, there was so many clothes, and she really didn't know what would be proper for dinner. "I don't know Miss Elena, I've never had so many clothes, What do you think I should wear." She would ask Elena as she would look up at her and smile, having never done something like this before, she thought she would know then she would, and she was kinda afraid of wearing somthing she shouldn't have, she didn't want to end up making kanana angry.

"Well...with your hair color and eyes...I'd say go for the maroon taffeta one. It'll compliment your features, and it looks nice enough for dinner, but not too fancy," Elena said kindly, displaying that she was actually wise. She pulled that one out and handed it to the Princess for her to see in the mirror, as she selected a simple pair of black mary jane flats, setting these on the floor. She then looked to the Princess, awaiting her approval.

If the Princess did not like the clothing, then Elena would show her dress after dress, to see which one she'd like. If she did, Elena would help the girl dress in the clothing, button her shoes, and give her a simple pendant to wear as a necklace before taking the girl's hair out of it's braid and tying it up into an intricate hairstyle all atop the child's head. Then, she'd set a small jeweled hairband around the hair, to make it cute and to give it some added flair.

Once this happened, Elena would lead the girl down to the dining hall, and show her to her seat. Elena would then stand and wait behind Princess Tokiwa's seat, so that she could lead her back upstairs when dinner was done and help her prepare for bed.

" Ok, I'll wear that one then." she would say, picking the first one Elena had chosen. Tokiwa was happy elena was there to help put those clothes on, she had no idea how to put these clothes on, they were much different then the simple clothes she used to wear. "Thank you Miss Elena." She would say when they were finished. As she was lead to the dinning hall, she would continue to look around at the walls, still amazed she was there, in the castle a place she had dreams about. After a bit of looking around the dinning hall a little, she would take her seat, waiting.

Kanana sauntered into the dining room, pleased to see Tokiwa dressed and presentable. She sat at the customary head of the long table, and smiled. "You look very pretty, Tokiwa," she said as clapped her hands. In a moment, all of the cooks from the kitchen came and laid the table out. It was a lot of food, but it wasn't more than what three or four people couldn't handle. Kanana had specifically asked for this meal to be just between her and the new royal member of the castle.

"Everything has been to your liking, little one?" she asked, smiling. And then, she had a wonderful idea! "How would you like for me to throw a ball, in your honor?!" she said excitedly, for once in her life expressing emotions other than lust, desire, and anger.
